Ramadan is the holiest month in the Islamic calendar. It is a time when Muslims focus on prayer, charity and thanking God for his blessings. Muslims fast from dawn to sunset by not eating or drinking anything. The fast-breaking is a truly sacred moment. In Austin, we used to get together with our friends of other faiths to celebrate this sacred moment, which is followed by a delicious dinner. Almost every evening, we visited a different place of worship or invited our friends to our place for fast-breaking dinner called Iftar. Missing the community aspect of these dinners last Ramadan at the beginning of the pandemic we decided to try Virtual Iftar Dinners this year.
