We had such a great time with all the participations at the Annual Friendship and Dialogue Dinner on March 2nd, 2017. There were dialogue, solidarity, tolerance, peace, love and so on at the program
The night started with a warm welcome from the emcee of the night Austin’s very own Judy Maggio from KLRU.
After the one-of-a-kind Mediterranean buffet and mini concert by group Atash we heard the story of Ufuk Koroglu, a journalist from Turkey for whom the Turkish Government is seeking two life sentences for writing on corruption in the government.
We honored Simone Talma Flowers with the Gülen Peace Award for her contributions to dialogue and understanding in Austin. As Rev. Steve Kinney testified, she indeed changed the lives of so many of us. Even in her acceptance speech Simone was inviting all to dialogue.
The keynote delivered by Dr. Scott Alexander was both informative, inspirational and a call to action to engage our communities.
Thanks again for all the speakers, volunteers, the Host Committee, the Dialogue Institute Advisory Board, the sponsors, and all who attended this beautiful night in support for more dialogue and friendship. We hope to see all of you again next year’s dinner.
