Join us to celebrate 20 years of dialogue!

We are excited to invite you to the Annual Friendship and Dialogue Dinner on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at 5:00 pm.

Venue: DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Austin / 6505 N Interstate 35 Austin, TX 78752

Please join us to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Dialogue Institute and all we have accomplished over the past 20 years, thanks to your gracious support.

The first event we organized 20 years ago was a conference at the Thompson Conference Center titled “How to Prevent Another September 11” with prominent scholars, including Prof. John Esposito of Georgetown University. We look forward to Dr. Esposito joining us again 20 years later as the keynote speaker on December 4.

Each year we recognize exceptional contributions and service to the community by businesses, organizations, and individuals. This year, we are excited to announce that the Gulen Peace Award goes to “Austin Jews and Partners for Refugees” for providing essential support to the refugees from Afghanistan during their resettlement.

  • Emcee of the night: Judy Maggio
  • Keynote: Dr. John L. Esposito – Georgetown University, DC.
  • Whirling Dervishes Performance
  • Gulen Peace Awards: Austin Jews and Partners for Refugees

The night will be hosted by Austin’s very own Judy Maggio, who has been a sought-after storyteller, communicator, moderator and broadcaster in Central Texas for 40 years. Since stepping down from the anchor desk, she continues to pursue those passions through Judy Maggio Media. In her four decades as a journalist and broadcaster in Austin, Judy has built her brand on trust, accuracy and service to the community.

Professor of Religion and International Affairs and Islamic Studies at Georgetown University, John L. Esposito, is the Founding Director of the Alwaleed Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding in the Walsh School of Foreign Service. Esposito has served as a consultant to the U.S. Department of State and other agencies, European and Asian governments, corporations, universities, and media worldwide, an ambassador for the UN Alliance of Civilizations, and was a member of the World Economic Forum’s Council of 100 Leaders and E. C. European Network of Experts on De-Radicalisation.

Before the dinner, there will be a reception with some amazing festivities: Ebru (Water marbling), Calligraphy, and a performance with an Anatolian traditional musical instrument named Baglama. We wish to see you there!

Sponsorship opportunities are also available for fellow organizations and friends interested in partnering with us!
